THE TIMES WE LIVE IN…

HOW DO WE ANSWER GATHERING QUESTIONS?

There are no roadmaps, GPS systems, or APPs leading to the answers for the times we live in.  A shutdown of society, business, human contact, and any resemblance to our normal existence has no frame of reference, at least, not in our world as we knew it.

As a caterer and event planner, I was deemed obsolete the moment we were told to cancel our lives and stay home.  Parties, gatherings, celebrations, and events in general are the opposite in every way of social distancing, masks, sanitizers, and gloves.   Even if the world opened tomorrow, there would be no need for parties over 25 guests for months as everything has been postponed until we all feel safe gathering again.  Our last event was March 7, 2020.   We don’t expect to have another of any substantial numbers probably until 2021.

What to do in the meantime?  What I see is that the reopening of our existence to more freedom of gathering resembles watching a small child unveil pieces of themselves as they go through their developmental stages.   We are at Stage 2 right now and I hope everyone will consider creating at least one of these once over the next few weeks as our human needs to connect are begging for expression.

STAGE 1.  Delivering menus to homes.  Leave them at the doorsteps.  Special Weekly menus (for those tired of cooking), Shabbat dinners, Father’s Day celebration, July 4th, Labor Day, & Rosh Hashanah come fall.  This will continue for a while.

STAGE 2.  Small gatherings.  10-25 guests.  Drop off menus – individually boxed on beautiful disposables – unique décor and touches to make a meaningful gathering where guests can be together, enjoy each other’s company, surrounded by beauty, great tasting menus, and innovative touches – all creating an intimacy that has been missing for weeks.  Perfect for downsized weddings, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, birthday parties, cocktail gatherings, summer parties or weekend gatherings.

We have researched all the necessary ingredients for Stage 2 gatherings.

Happy to share them with you.
